Padua Rugby aims to develop age-specific core skills of rugby in an enjoyable learning environment with a key focus on the values of team work and fair play. It also strives to provide an opportunity for boys to become match officials and be involved in coaching.

Rugby at the College runs throughout Term 1 and Term 2, with Term 1 being our development and preparation program and Term 2 the AIC competition season. In 2018 the College will enter approximately 30 rugby teams into the AIC competition from Year 5s to 1st XV.

Padua College has a proud history in rugby union.  As a founding member of the AIC, Padua has many Old Boys who have had esteemed careers as professional players. The popularity of rugby within the College sees the largest number of boys representing the College in any sport.

Rugby at Padua is not just about the elite players. The culture of Padua’s rugby is one that encourages all boys, no matter their playing ability, to compete with fierce determination and commitment, whilst still honouring the traditions of fair play and sportsmanship.

Apart from the AIC Competition, Padua competes in The Armidale School Rugby Carnival, Ballymore Cup and embarks on a biannual Open European Rugby Tour. A range of specialist clinics are available over the Christmas Holidays.

A team of experienced and enthusiastic coaches comprised of staff, parents, expert coaches and Old Boys deliver a rugby program that enables all players to develop and enjoy the game of rugby.
