Junior Phase (Years 5 and 6)

The Junior Phase at Padua College provides learning experiences that are age-appropriate for the developing mind. The explicit teaching of thinking skills and supported learning activities designed to develop 21st century skills underpins our connected and engaging curriculum in these foundation years. Students in the Junior Phase engage in a program that includes the following subject offerings:

  • Mathematics
  • English
  • Religious Education
  • Science
  • HASS (Humanities and Social Sciences)
  • Health and Physical Education
  • Japanese
  • Music (including instrumental Music in Year 5)
  • Art
  • Digital Technologies

Middle Phase (Years 7 – 9)

The Middle Phase at Padua College is very much a transition phase between primary and upper secondary and provides students with the opportunity to take further responsibility for their own learning and experiment within a safe and structured learning environment. A core teacher model is used in the middle phase, allowing for students to have access to at least one teacher for a significant part of their school week. This core teacher model provides for the development of positive relationships essential to learning at this phase.  Students in the Middle Phase begin with set subjects which give them broad access to a variety of subjects and in Semester 2 of Year 8, begin to select subjects based on their own learning interests and successes. Subjects experienced in this phase are:
