At Padua College, Cross Country running is open to all boys in the school. Boys in Years 5-12 compete in the AIC competition. Running across Terms 2 and 3, Cross Country is viewed as a strong compliment to all other sports in the school, providing each individual athlete with a strong aerobic fitness base.
Cross Country is competed in a team format with the fastest runners from each school earning points. However a maximum of 12 runners is eligible to compete from each school in each age division.
Distances vary with each age group. At Years 5, 6 and 7 level the distance is 2km; Under 13-3km; Under 14 and 15 – 4km; Under 16 and Open – 6km. The training program is designed by highly qualified coaches under the guidance of the College’s Director of Coaching Mr Tony Guilfoyle.
